Plans have been lodged for the £640m North West Quadrant regeneration scheme in Slough, paving the way for one of the largest town centre redevelopment projects in the South East.
Developer Muse and Homes England have submitted a planning application to transform the 3.6ha former Thames Valley University site into a mixed-use neighbourhood delivering around 1,500 homes, offices, shops, cafés and community facilities over the next decade.
The project forms a cornerstone of Slough town centre’s wider regeneration programme and follows Homes England’s acquisition of the site from Slough Borough Council in 2023.
The masterplan includes a landmark 250,000 sq ft office building, 45,000 sq ft of retail and leisure, a nursery for 100 children, a major community events venue alongside big public realm improvements.
The first phase has been submitted in detailed form and covers two development plots delivering 798 rented homes.
These comprise 473 build-to-rent flats and 325 co-living units, together with around 800 sq m of ground-floor commercial space including a gym and café and a further 240 sq m of retail accommodation.

Chris Scott, development director at Muse, said: “The submission of this planning application is a significant milestone for North West Quadrant and for the economic transformation of Slough town centre.
“The project plays a key role in the town centre’s regeneration and supports Slough Borough Council’s long-term vision for growth, alongside other key town centre development projects.”
Muse has previously delivered several landmark projects in Slough through regeneration partnerships with the council, including the Curve cultural centre, Slough Ice Arena, the Centre development, the Moxy Hotel and more than 500 homes.
